Your 1st Independence Day!

For your 1st Fourth of July, we went to Grandma's & Grandpa's house.  G&G always have this holiday at their house, but we only get to spend it with them every other year.  This year was also extra special because daddy didn't have to work so he got to spend the holiday with us.  (Usually he has to work the big fireworks display that the city puts on but didn't have to this year.)

We didn't go over to G&G's until after Brett woke up from his nap.  On the way we stopped at a fireworks stand and got some fireworks.  Brett and Daddy got the fw while you and I stayed in the car.  We got to G&G's at 4:30pm.  Brett and Daddy started playing (Brett in the sprinkler, daddy with fireworks) and you and I sat with the girls and talked.

After an hour, I fed you then put you down for a nap.  The rest of the family ate while you slept.  We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, had sno cones and brownies.  The kids had fun playing in the sprinkler and shooting off fireworks.  It was a very windy day and overcast.  As it got dark Brett got to hold some sparklers.  I kept checking on you to make sure you weren't crying inside while we were spending the day/evening outside.  Everytime I checked on you you were sleeping soundly.

We were waiting for the fireworks display to start in G&G's neighborhood only to find out that it had been cancelled.  Although there were so many other people that were setting off fireworks that it didn't really disappoint me too much.  Finally at 10:30pm I decided to wake you up so we could go home.  You weren't very happy to get woken up.

I had expected you to be awake and fussy for most of the evening but you surprised me.  I was afraid the fireworks were going to scare you and make you very unhappy but instead you slept through them.

When we got home you ate and then were wide awake.  When we finally put you to bed at 12:45am, you weren't happy at all and screamed.
